How to install VRoid Studio 1.0 on a Chromebook


Unfortunately, due to back-end changes, this tutorial doesn't work currently. Please use the mobile version of Vroid instead. I apologize for the inconveniences.
Today we are looking at how to install VRoid Studio 1.0 on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key
3) sudo apt-key add winehq.key
4) echo "deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/ bookworm main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wine_chrome_os_made_simple.list
5) sudo apt update
6) sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable
7) winecfg
8) ln -s  /home/username/.wine/drive_c /home/username/wine
9) wget https://download.vroid.com/dist/Tk6ysyNTl1V/VRoidStudio-v1.0.0-win.exe
10) wine VRoidStudio-v1.0.0-win.exe
11) wine .wine/drive_c/users/username/Local\ Settings/Application\ Data/Programs/VRoidStudio/1.0.0/VRoidStudio.exe

Chrome Flags:

Update: with the release of Chrome OS 96, the Linux container on a Chromebook has been upgraded to a newer version.  This tutorial still works exactly as in the video, but it is no longer needed to apply the setting below, in Google Chrome as in the beginning of the video.
