How to install Gacha Life on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install Gacha Life on a Chromebook.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

Please use the video as a visual guide, and the commands and links below to install it on your Chromebook.

We start the process by enabling the Linux Container on our Chromebook.  You can al
ways remove it again in the future as well if needed.

To enable it, we go to the settings of our Chromebook, inside of it, we click on the "Advance" option in the left panel, and then the "Developers" section. Then enable Linux from there as seen in the video.

Now we will download the game and move it to our Linux files in our file manager.

2.1)  Open the game's website and download the windows installer.

2.2) 01:03 Open the file in your file manager and move the game to your Linux files in your file manager.

Now we continue to the next phase in the tutorial and that is to run several commands in our Linux terminal, which will install our system to install the game.

Some general facts about the terminal.  To paste a command into the Linux terminal, press "Ctrl Shift v" together.  After you paste a command into the Linux terminal, please press "enter" to run it.  At some commands you will see a question to press Y or n to continue.  If you see it press "enter" to continue.

3.1)  This command will add 32 bit architecture to our Linux Apps.

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

3.2) 01:56 This command will download and add a Wine security key to our system.

wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key && sudo apt-key add winehq.key

3.3) 02:10 This command will add a Wine repository to our system.

echo "deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/ bullseye main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wine_chrome_os_made_simple.list

3.4) 02:18 This command will update the repositories of our Linux container.

sudo apt update

3.5) 02:32 This command will install Wine and an application which improves the performance of Wine in Linux.  The Y and n question will appear in this command, please press "enter" then. 

sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable winbind

3.6) 03:08 This command will create some files and folders which wine requires.  During the process you will be asked to install one package.  Please install it as seen in the video.  Wine and the game requires it.

3.7) 03:46 Now we will unzip the game.

unzip GachaLife.zip

3.8) 04:00 To run the game, please run this command in your Linux Terminal every time.

cd GachaLifePC.app && wine GachaLife.exe
