How to install melonDS on a Chromebook - a Nintendo DS emulator


Due to backend updates, it is currently not possible to create an application launcher and launch the menu editor.  However I created a revised tutorial, please have a look

Today we are looking at how to install melonDS, a Nintendo DS emulator, on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

Please take note that controllers won't work, only keyboards and mice/trackpads.

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Commands Used:
1) sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list sources.list
2) sudo echo deb https://deb.debian.org/debian sid main  | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
3) sudo apt update
4) sudo apt install libslirp0 libsdl2-2.0-0 libqt5core5a menulibre
5) sudo mv sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list
6) sudo apt update
7) wget http://melonds.kuribo64.net/downloads/melonDS_0.9.1_linux64.7z
8) sudo apt install p7zip-full
9) 7z x melonDS_0.9.1_linux64.7z
10) chmod 755 melonDS
11) 7z x NDS\ Firmware\ \&\ BIOs.7z 
12) ./melonDS --disable-framerate-limit
13) menulibre
