How to install RPG Maker MZ on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install RPG Maker MZ on a Chromebook.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

Please use the video as a visual guide, and the links below to install it on your Chromebook.

We start the process by enabling the Linux Container on our Chromebook.  You can always remove it again in the future as well if needed.

To enable it, we go to the settings of our Chromebook, inside of it, we click on the "Advance" option in the left panel, and then the "Developers" section. Then enable Linux from there as seen in the video.

2) 00:38 Now we will download Crossover and RPG Maker MZ.

2.1) Now we will download Crossover.

*Crossover comes with a 2 week free trial period, and afterwards it is paid.

2.2) 01:12 Now we will download RPG Maker MZ.

*I created this installer of RPG Maker, by downloading the official installer, install it with Crossover , and I created a Crossover installer of it.  Please take note that after the trail period of RPG Maker is completed, you have to buy it 
(to continue to use it or reinstall Linux from your Chromebook's settings and use the trial period again for 2 week).

Now we will open the files in our file manager.  We will move the RPG package to our Linux files in our file manager and install Crossover.

3.1) Now we will open the files in our file manager and move the RGP Maker MZ file to our Linux files in our file manager,

3.2) 1:58 Now we will install Crossover.  We will right-click on the installer in our file manager and install it with Linux.

Now we will launch Crossover and install RPG Maker with it.

4.1) Now we will launch Crossover.

4.2) 03:14 Now we will click on the button with horizontal lines on it,  then choose "Bottle", and then click on "Import Bottle Archive..." and choose the installer.

*During the process you will be asked to install additional packages which Crossover and RPG Maker MZ requires.  Please do it.

Now we will launch RPG Maker MZ and test it out.

5.1) We will launch the applicatiuon now.

*During the launch process it will remind you that Crossover comes witn a two week trial period,  As mentioned earlier in the tutorial.

5.2) 05:35 Your project files will be in your Linux files in your file manager.  Let's go their now.

5.3)
06:04 Lastly, we will launch RPG Maker MZ again.
