How to upgrade from Linux Mint 19 to 19.1

Today we are looking at how to upgrade from Linux Mint 19 to Linux Mint 19.1.  Linux Mint 19.1 is truly a major upgrade especially the Cinnamon edition with Cinnamon and Nemo 4.0.  If you are running an earlier version of Mint 19 than you first have to upgrade to Mint 19 before you can upgrade to 19.1.  Enjoy!

During the upgrade process a person will download about 200 mb of data, excluding your normal system updates.

All these commands are based on the official upgrade blog, which you can find below.

Commands Used:
1) create a system snapshot
2) disable screensaver
3) update your system
4) upgrade system
- go to upgrade manager - edit/ upgrade

Before rebooting your system, you can run these two optional commands as shown in my video with voice-overs.  Please note that this is completely optional and you can read about it in the official upgrade blog!

1) sudo apt install p7zip-full xul-ext-lightning

2) sudo apt remove --purge xscreensaver-data xscreensaver-data-extra xscreensaver-gl xscreensaver-gl-extra cinnamon-screensaver-webkit-plugin cinnamon-screensaver-x-plugin
