Today we are looking at how to change your system's hostname in Ubuntu 19.10. This will work in all supported versions of Ubuntu. If you are using an Ubuntu Flavor or Ubuntu Based system, then you might need to change the text editor in the commands, if you need advice, please let me know.
In the video, we first look at what our current hostname is. After that, we change the hostname to what you like in two text files, with the commands below. Then we reboot our system and lastly make sure the hostname has been changed by running the first command again. Enjoy!
1) modify hostname here:
sudo gedit /etc/hostname
sudo gedit /etc/hosts
reboot your system
see current hostname
hostnamectl
