How to install Mods in Minetest on a Chromebook

Today we are looking at how to install Mods in Minetest on a Chromebook.

Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

We firstly choose a mod we like to install, as seen in the video I choose this one as an example.  On this page, we get pictures of the mod in action, a download link, the source code (if interesting for you), the name which we need to rename the mod to (for some reason it is different than the folder name, if you struggle here please let us know on youtube and we will assist you), and also what mods this mod depends on (so if there are written only "default" it means you only need Minetest if there are other mods mention also you need to install them as well).  Now we download the mod.

Then we open the mod in the file manager, rename the mod package to mod.zip, move it to our Linux folder and run the command below in a Linux terminal, as seen in the video.  Then we go back to the file manager and rename it to the name given on the mod webpage.  Then we open the folder .mintest, by enabling hidden folders (as seen in the video). and then in the .minestest folder create a mods folder and move your mod/s into it.

Then we launch Minetest, enable the mod and enjoy it!

Command used:
unzip mod.zip

Update:  In Chrome OS 83 Linux Apps has an option now, not seen in this video as it was recorded before Chrome OS 83, to choose a username for your Linux Apps,  it is completely optional and you can just press on the install option to continue, as seen in the video.  Please send us a comment on YouTube if you need assistance!
