How to install FL Studio 20 on a Chromebook with Crossover 20

Due to an update this installation method no longer works, but please have a look at our revised tutorials on how to install FL Studio 20 on a Chromebook (free but a lot of work with the terminal, including launching it with the terminal), or with Crossover, paid with a two-week trial but applications launchers work as expected.
Please take note that both methods are the free trial version of FL Studio, and you need to buy a premium plan to have access to the full program.

Today we are looking at how to install FL Studio 20 on a Chromebook with Crossover 20.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

If you have any questions, please contact us via a YouTube comment and we would be happy to assist you!

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) sudo apt update
3) sudo apt install libjpeg62 libnss-mdns:i386 libglu1-mesa:i386 libxcursor1:i386 libxrandr2:i386 libcapi20-3:i386 libfontconfig1:i386 libgsm1:i386 libldap-2.4-2:i386 libmpg123-0:i386 libopenal1:i386 libosmesa6:i386 libpulse0:i386 libsane:i386 libv4l-0:i386 libxcomposite1:i386 libxinerama1:i386 libxml2:i386 libxslt1.1:i386

Download Crossover:

Download Fl Studio 20 (we uploaded the package to MEGA as our Google Drive filled up):

We mention in the video, that you can run Crossover for free if you do not want to/or can't afford the license fee.  It is a bit tricky but possible.  So to do this download the trial period of Crossover,  and install it, as seen in the video.  Use Crossover for the free trial period of two weeks.  After your two weeks are finished,  remove your Linux Apps in your system settings (you will lose all your Linux Apps and Linux Folder, in your file manager) and then turn it on again and setup Crossover and Fl Studio again.  We know it is not convenient, but it works!

As for the FL Studio 20 installer we use in the video.  We installed FL Studio on a Chromebook, and then exported it as a deb package, without changing anything about it.  So, if you choose to use this installer, you will agree with Crossover installation terms, the dependencies which FL Studio needs, and FL Studio 20
 agreements.  Nothing bad or illegal.
