How to install Toontown Rewritten on a Chromebook

Toontown Rewritten was updated!  Please have a look at our latest tutorial.

Today we are looking at how to install Toontown Rewritten on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

If you have any questions, please contact us via a YouTube comment and we would be happy to assist you!

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

We modified the 6th and the 9th command slightly,  it still runs as seen in the video, but it installs an additional package which Toontown Rewritten requires to run.  If you have any questions, please contact us via YouTube.

1) sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/oldsources.list
2) sudo touch /etc/apt/sources.list
3) sudo echo deb https://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main  | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
