How to install Shotcut video editor on a Chromebook in 2021


Today we are looking at how to install Shotcut video editor on a Chromebook  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

Update: with the release of Chrome OS 96, the Linux container on a Chromebook has been upgraded to a newer version.  This tutorial still works exactly as in the video, however, the first 3 and last 2 commands are no longer required.  Hope it helps

Commands Used:
1) sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list sources.list
2) sudo echo deb https://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye main  | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
3) sudo apt update -y
4) sudo apt install shotcut
5) sudo mv sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list
6) sudo apt update
