How to install OpenOffice 4.1.11 on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install OpenOffice 4.1.11 on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

Commands Used:
1) wget -c https://deac-fra.dl.sourceforge.net/project/openofficeorg.mirror/4.1.11/binaries/en-US/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.11_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz
2) tar -zxvf Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.11_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz
3) sudo dpkg -i en-US/DEBS/*.deb en-US/DEBS/desktop-integration/*.deb

  1. Well, everything went well for me until I went to open it and use it. The Openoffice logo flashed on the screen and then nothing. I even tried to uninstall it and install it again, carefully following all of the procedures, but the same thing happened. What am I doing wrong???
