Today we are looking at how to install OpenOffice on Ubuntu 17.10, this will work on newer versions of Ubuntu as well. A person first needs to remove LibreOffice before you can install OpenOffice which is unfortunate. So in the first part of the video, and the first two commands will completely remove LibreOffice from your system. The next step is the installation part, a person downloads the deb package and like LibreOffice a person needs to extract the packages and you will find a lot of deb packages which a person needs to install all at once with the command below, as shown in the video tutorials. Enjoy!
Ps. Remember to install the deb packages in the Desktop integration folder as well!
Commands Used:
1) remove LibreOffice:
sudo apt purge libreoffice*
sudo apt autoremove
2) install OpenOffice:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
