How to install Openshot 2.4.4 on a Chromebook

Update:  Since the release of Chrome OS 80, the Linux Apps have been upgraded and the installation process has become much easier!  Please follow this guide where we install Darktable, the only difference is the last command, used the command (step 8) in this article and you will install Natron, not Darktable.  Please write to us if you have any questions!

Today we are looking at how to install Openshot 2.4.4 or the current version on a Chromebook!  We created a video for a visual guide as well as an audio guide.  We hope that you will find it helpful.  Please find the instructions below to install Openshot, it is the same as those which we used in the video.

We used Flatpak to install Blender with as we get the one of the latest version, where the version of Blender which is in the Linux repository on your Chromebook is much older.

1) sudo apt install nano
2) sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
put  a # in front of deb stretch main
Add deb buster main
3) sudo apt update
4) sudo apt install flatpak
5) sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Restore to default
6) sudo apt update
7) sudo flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub
8) sudo flatpak install flathub org.openshot.OpenShot
