How to install Firefox ESR on a Chromebook

Today we are looking at how to install Firefox on a Chromebook!  We created a video for a visual guide as well as an audio guide.  We hope that you will find it helpful.  Please find the commands below to install Firefox ESR, it is the same as those which we used in the video.

Please let us know if you need any assistance!

If you want to update your application in the future, open a terminal session (like you did to install Firefox ESR), and copy/paste this command into it, sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Commands Used:
1) sudo apt update
2) sudo apt install firefox-esr
