How to install Krita 4.2.8 as an appimage on a Chromebook

Today we are looking at how to install Krita 4.2.8 on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

In the past, we created a video to install the latest version of Krita as a Flatpak, but with the release of Krita 4.2.9, which was a lot of changes in the backend, according to their release notes, it, unfortunately, stopped to work on a Chromebook, so we created this method.  We hope the issue will be fixed soon.

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Instructions:
1) wget https://download.kde.org/stable/krita/4.2.8/krita-4.2.8-x86_64.appimage
2) sudo chmod a+x krita-4.2.8-x86_64.appimage
3) sudo apt install menulibre
4) menulibre
