How to install Wine 5.0 on LMDE 4


Today we are looking at how to install Wine 5.0 on LMDE 4.  After installing Wine in this method you will always receive Wine updates when a newer Wine Stable version is available.

The 1st command will add 32bit support for Wine on your system.  The 2nd and 3rd will download and add a Wine security key to your system.  The 4th and the 5th command will add additional repositories to your system.  The 6th command will update your system sources.  The 7th command will install Wine-Stable.  The last command will install 3 packages that your system needs to install to run Windows applications.  Enjoy!

After installing Wine, we show you how to use Wine, by installing a .exe file via wine o our system.

Please note, that not all Windows programs work on Wine but many do.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key
3) sudo apt-key add winehq.key
4) sudo xed /etc/apt/sources.list
deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/ buster main
deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:/Wine:/Debian/Debian_10 ./
5) sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys DFA175A75104960E
6) sudo apt update
8) sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable
8) winecfg
