How to install Blender 2.82a on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install Blender 2.82a on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and sadly not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.  If you have a chromebook with an ARM64 cpu, look at this tutorial.

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Commands Used:
1) wget https://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/graphics/blender/release/Blender2.82/blender-2.82a-linux64.tar.xz
2) tar -xf blender-2.82a-linux64.tar.xz
3) sudo apt install menulibre
4) menulibre
