How to install LMMS 1.2.2 and VST Plugins on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install LMMS 1.2.2 and Vestige -VST Plugins on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

Please take note that only 32 bit Windows, VST Plugins work.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU and depending, but you can install this version of LMMS.

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) sudo apt update
3) sudo apt install wine
4) winecfg 
5) chmod 777 lmms.AppImage
6) ./lmms.AppImage
7) sudo apt install menulibre
8) menulibre
9) unzip vst
