How to install Vroid Studio on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install Vroid Studio on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Please take note that with the release of 1.0,  the application is in Japanese by default.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key
3) sudo apt-key add winehq.key
4) echo "deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/ buster main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wine.list
5) echo "deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:/Wine:/Debian/Debian_10 ./" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wine.list
6) sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys DFA175A75104960E
7) sudo apt update
8) sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable
9) winecfg
10) wine vroid.exe 
11) wine .wine/drive_c/users/username/Local\ Settings/Application\ Data/Programs/VRoidStudio/1.0.0/VRoidStudio.exe
