How to install Second Life on a Chromebook - a Sims 4 alternative


Today we are looking at how to install Firestorm Second Life on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

Ps. We are not sure why the launcher became blue at the end, if you encounter similar issues, just launch Second Life with the terminal.  

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) sudo apt update
3) sudo apt install libidn11:i386 libstdc++6:i386 gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio:i386 libnss3:i386 libnspr4:i386 libxtst6:i386 libgconf-2-4:i386 libxss1:i386 libnss3 wine
4) winecfg
5) tar xf Phoenix-Firestorm-Releasex64-6-6-17-70368.tar.xz
6) ./Phoenix-Firestorm-Releasex64-6-6-17-70368/firestorm
7) sudo apt install menulibre
8) menulibre
