How to install Inkscape 1.0.2 on a Chromebook

Today we are looking at how to install Inkscape 1.0.2 on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

If you have any questions, please contact us via a YouTube comment and we would be happy to assist you!

Please take note that with the release of Chrome OS 90,  the location of Linux Apps has been changed in the Chromebook’s settings.  Have a look at this tutorial, to see how to turn on Linux apps and then continue with the installation tutorial.

Update: with the release of Chrome OS 96, the Linux container on a Chromebook has been upgraded to a newer version.  This tutorial still works exactly as in the video, however, the first 3 commands are no longer required.  Hope it helps

Commands used:
1) sudo echo deb https://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye main  | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/inkscape.list
2) sudo apt update
3) sudo apt install inkscape
4) sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/inkscape.list
5) sudo apt update
