How to install Minecraft Optifine on a Chromebook in 2021

Today we are looking at how to install Minecraft Optifine on a Chromebook when you installed Minecraft with this method.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

If you have any questions, please contact us via a YouTube comment and we would be happy to assist you!

Minecraft must be installed on your Chromebook:

To access your .minecraft folder,  go to your Linux files in your file manager,  click on the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner,  choose to show hidden files, some folders will appear,  open the .var folder, inside of it open the .app folder, inside of it the com.mojang.Minecraft folder and inside of it you will find the .minecraft folder.

A big thanks to Jackson Thompson for his assistance!

Commands Used:
1) chmod 755 optifine.jar
2) java -jar optifine.jar
3) /home/username/.var/app/com.mojang.Minecraft/.minecraft
4) env MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.2 /usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=minecraft com.mojang.Minecraft
