How to install Discord on a Chromebook

Today we are looking at how to install Discord on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

If you have any questions, please contact us via a YouTube comment and we would be happy to assist you!

Please take note that screen sharing and your camera won't work in it.  If you need these features, please use the browser or play store version.

Commands Used:
1) sudo echo deb buster main  | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/discord_chrome_os_made_simple.list
2) sudo apt update
3) wget
4) sudo dpkg -i discord-0.0.22.deb
5) sudo apt -f install
6) sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/discord_chrome_os_made_simple.list
7) sudo rm discord-0.0.22.deb

Update: with the release of Chrome OS 96, the Linux container on a Chromebook has been upgraded to a newer version.  This tutorial still works exactly as in the video, but it is no longer needed to apply the setting in Google Chrome as in the beginning of the video.
