How to install Wine 6.0.2 on a Chromebook


Today we are looking at how to install Wine 6.0.2 or newer on a Chromebook.  Please follow the video/audio guide as a tutorial where we explain the process step by step and use the commands below.

This tutorial will only work on Chromebooks with an Intel or AMD CPU (with Linux Apps Support) and not those with an ARM64 architecture CPU.

Commands Used:
1) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
2) wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key
3) sudo apt-key add winehq.key
4) echo "deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/ bullseye main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wine_chrome_os_made_simple.list
5) sudo apt update
6) sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable winbind
7) winecfg
8) sudo apt install nemo
9) wine package.exe
10) ln -s  /home/$USER/.wine/drive_c /home/$USER/wine
